What a Month It’s Been — September with the Pika Tribe

A month of light, colour, and heartfelt stories. September was filled with inspiration — from Elbé’s personal reflections on home and creativity to guest expert Elzeli Krause’s practical decorating wisdom. It was a month of growth, connection, and gratitude.

What a month it’s been! We were inspired by Elbé’s personal story about how her childhood shaped the way she creates and lives today — warts and all. As she put it: “Today, I’m grateful to be that dreamer, creating designs that find their way into homes as tablecloths, scatter cushions, and wallpapers. Every piece I make carries a part of my story: the warmth of family, the joy of making, and the belief that a home should reflect the people who live in it.”

We also welcomed our very first guest expert, Elzeli Krause, who shared her wisdom on making your home a true retreat — one that tells your personal story. From easy refresh ideas to decorating mistakes to avoid, her tips were pure gold.

September was also a special milestone — Elbé’s birthday month! She reflected on the past year of running Pika Pattern: the challenges, rewards, and the joy of seeing her work slowly make its way into homes across South Africa. It’s been a year of growth, connection, courage, and deep gratitude.
