The Story Behind Slow Harvest

Some collections come together quickly. Others quietly change you while you're creating them.

Slow Harvest became one of those collections.

When I first started sketching ideas, I thought I was simply designing another collection of botanical patterns. But over the following months, it grew into something much more personal.

Seed heads waiting for the wind.

Dry grasses catching the afternoon light.

The intricate beauty of thorny branches.

These quiet moments became the inspiration for Slow Harvest.

Rather than celebrating flowers in full bloom, the collection celebrates what comes afterwards — the seeds, the textures, the fading forms and the promise of new growth.

It became a reminder that beautiful things don't always arrive quickly. Sometimes they need time.

As the collection began to take shape, I found myself paying more attention to the small details — the things that are easy to overlook when life is moving quickly.

A seed head, a dry stem, the curve of a branch, the quiet structure of a fading flower. These became the building blocks of the collection.

Slow Harvest became a study in what happens when we allow ourselves to look a little longer.

The finished collection brings together those observations in a palette of earthy, warm colours and botanical forms — a celebration of growth, change and the beauty found in every stage of a season.

This is only the beginning of the Slow Harvest story.

In the following Journal entries, I'll share more of the process behind the collection — from the first sketches and the making of the hero pattern to the repeat, colour palette and supporting designs.
